The Most Revd Dr Rowan Williams
The Most Revd and Rt Hon Dr Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury. Rowan Williams has been Archbishop of Canterbury since 2002. He was born in 1950 and brought up in Swansea. He taught theology in Cambridge from 1977, becoming Dean of Clare College from 1984, after which he served from 1986 as Lady Margaret Professor in Oxford. He became Bishop of Monmouth in 1992 and Archbishop of Wales in 2000. Dr Williams is a Fellow of the British Academy and is the author of several books of theology; he is also a frequent broadcaster. In 2006 The Archbishop was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Cambridge. He is married to Jane, a writer and teacher; they have two children.
